ACAMB @ 30: Bank Image-Makers Roll Out Plans for Milestone Anniversary, Unveil New Agenda for Banking Sector Trust
The Association of Corporate and Marketing Communication Professionals in Banks (ACAMB) has announced a series of activities to commemorate its 30th anniversary, describing the milestone as a celebration of resilience, professionalism, and trust-building in Nigeria’s banking industry.
Addressing gentlemen of the press during its press conference in Lagos on Tuesday, the President of ACAMB, Mr. Jide Sipe, said the association, which was founded in 1996 as the Association of Corporate Affairs Managers of Banks (ACAMB), has evolved into a formidable platform for communication, brand, and reputation managers across the financial sector.

“Thirty years is more than a milestone. It is a testament to the strength, resilience and relevance of an association that has continued to evolve alongside Nigeria’s banking industry,” Jide told journalists, corporate communication professionals, and stakeholders.
He noted that for three decades, ACAMB has provided a platform for professionals to connect, learn, collaborate, and contribute to the growth of the banking sector while ensuring that the voice of the industry remains credible, relevant, and trusted.
Recounting the history of the association, the ACAMB President disclosed that the body has been led by 10 presidents since inception, Late Alhaji Kabir Dangogo (Premier President), Dr. Waheed Olagunju, Hajiya Lantana Ahmed (1st Female President), Mr. Lanre Alabi, Dr. Eddy Ademosu, Pastor Tunde Sofowora, Mrs. Lola Odedina, Mr. Charles AigbeMr. Rasheed Bolarinwa and Mr. Jide Sipe the current president of ACAMB.
Jide explained that the theme for the anniversary, “30 Years of Shaping Narratives and Building Trust,” captures the essence of ACAMB’s role in the industry.
“Communication goes beyond the transmission of information. It is about creating understanding, influencing perceptions responsibly, strengthening relationships, and building confidence amongst stakeholders. Trust remains the most valuable asset any organization can possess,” he said.

The association listed its key achievements to include the advancement of professional standards through capacity-building programmes, conferences and knowledge-sharing sessions; encouraging members to obtain professional memberships with NIPR, NIMN, APCON and CIBN; and fostering strong collaborations with regulators and stakeholders.
Jide said ACAMB has been at the forefront of reputation and crisis management for the banking industry, often intervening during regulatory challenges to provide clarity and positive positioning for the sector.
He also cited the association’s investment in members’ wellness and social responsibility, referencing its regular aerobic sessions, a recent golf networking tournament, and a tree-planting campaign held earlier this year to promote environmental sustainability.

The President further revealed plans for a novelty football match and sports day between ACAMB members and the media in 2026 to deepen the relationship between banks and the press.
Giving details of the anniversary celebration, Jide said the association, which will officially turn 30 on September 30th, has lined up several activities culminating in a grand Anniversary Gala on September 13th at the Civic Centre, Lagos.
According to him, the gala will host a keynote speaker, top regulators from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Lagos State Commissioner for Finance, the Deputy Governor of the CBN, bank chief executives, media partners, and all past presidents of the association who will be honoured for their contributions.
“On the 30th of September, we will be 30 on the 30th. So that day is particularly special to us. The gala will be an evening of music, networking, awards, and celebration of what we’ve done over the years,” he said.
Looking ahead, the ACAMB President said the communication landscape is being reshaped by artificial intelligence, digital media, and changing stakeholder expectations, creating both opportunities and challenges.
“Our commitment going forward is to remain relevant, innovative and responsive whilst upholding the values of professionalism, integrity, credibility and trust. The next chapter will focus on strengthening our professional community, deepening stakeholder engagement and embracing innovation,” he assured.
He concluded by inviting members of the media and the general public to join in telling the story of ACAMB’s 30-year journey of impact, resilience, relationships and trust.
