First Bank Sues Kunle Afolayan Over Alleged N5bn Unpaid Loan For “Anikulapo”
Ace filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan, has allegedly been served a court summons by First Bank over an unpaid loan of N5 billion.
According to reports, the bank took legal action against the director for failing to repay a N5 billion loan he reportedly borrowed in 2022 to fund his epic movie, _Anikulapo_.
Sources claim Afolayan signed an agreement to repay the loan in less than 3 years. It was further alleged that after Netflix acquired the movie, he made a partial payment of half the loan but has since become unreachable.
The report added that a court summons has now been issued and Kunle Afolayan is expected to appear in court soon. The development was revealed by one of his close associates some days ago.
As at the time of filing this report, neither Kunle Afolayan nor First Bank has released an official statement regarding the matter.
