Rain Or Shine: Hundreds Benefit As Hon. Okey-Joe Launches Free Medical Outreach In Isolo
“I Got Free Glasses Today”: Isolo Residents Troop Out For Hon. Okey-Joe Onuakalusi Medical Outreach
Residents of Isolo and its environs turned out in large numbers on Friday for Day 1 of the free medical outreach organized by Hon. Okey-Joe Onuakalusi, Member of the House of Representatives representing Oshodi-Isolo Constituency 2.
The program, held at No. 36 Asiriabo Street, Isolo, Lagos State, drew beneficiaries from different communities despite unfavorable weather conditions. As early as 9am, people were already at the venue for accreditation while medical professionals waited on standby to begin consultations.
The outreach focused largely on eye care and general health checks, with free drugs and eyeglasses distributed to those in need.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Rashidat Akanni of 13 Aregbe Street, Isolo, expressed delight at the services.
“I was told about this medical outreach by my neighbor. I am impressed. They checked my eyes and gave me glasses for free,” she told journalists.
“I am a Yoruba woman and I have never met Hon. Okey-Joe before, but I always hear about the development he has brought to Oshodi-Isolo Constituency 2. What he has brought here today is too much. I don’t think people here can finish consuming it.”
She added prayers for the lawmaker: “As he is giving us eyeglasses for free, he will not have eye problems. By God’s grace, he will win the coming election.”
Another beneficiary, Mrs. Aro Obaga, an Edo woman and former PDP member, also shared her experience. She said she previously benefited from the lawmaker’s empowerment program where she won a grinding machine through a raffle draw.
“For 18 years I was a senior Exco member of PDP and I didn’t benefit anything,” she said. “My friend invited me to Hon. Okey-Joe’s empowerment program and I won. Today I also benefited from the medical outreach. I even came with my neighbors.”
Mrs. Obaga disclosed that she has now joined the NDC and has been mobilizing people in her area to vote for Hon. Okey-Joe in the upcoming election.
Despite the rain, beneficiaries said the outreach brought relief, especially to those struggling with eye problems. Many left the venue smiling after receiving treatment and free medical items.
The medical outreach is expected to continue on Saturday at No. 1 Sanni Street, Ilasamaja.
