TRUTH UNDER SIEGE: EBELE BELMON NWUZOR DEMANDS JUSTICE, DENIES FINANCIAL GRATIFICATIONS, CALLS FOR ACCOUNTABILITY IN AMUWO ODOFIN
A former Labour Party Chairman in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area, Ebele Belmon Nwuzor, has raised serious concerns over alleged misinformation, personal attacks, and unfulfilled promises by political figures within the constituency.
In a strongly worded press statement released on April 6, 2026, Nwuzor expressed deep distress over what she described as a deliberate campaign of falsehood against her person by key beneficiaries of her political support, Hon George Olawande, the lawmaker representing Amuwo Odofin Federal Constituency, and Hon. Stella Foluke Osafile, who represents Amuwo-Odofin State Constituency I.
Nwuzor stated that she had committed her time, resources, and energy, alongside a loyal team, to support the electoral victories and political visibility of both representatives. She described the current situation as “shocking and disheartening,” noting that recent statements allegedly made by Hon George Olawande during an Easter Fiesta event in Festac Town on April 4, 2026, misrepresented her personality and integrity.
Reacting to claims that she received financial sums ranging from one million to three million naira, Nwuzor categorically denied the allegations, describing them as false and misleading. She clarified that the only recent financial support she received from Olawande was fifty thousand naira, which she said was given as transport fare following the marking of her house for demolition.
She further revealed that a public promise of one million naira made to her by Olawande on March 26, 2026, and expected to be fulfilled by March 28, remains outstanding. Additionally, she addressed the issue of a campaign vehicle, a 2005 Honda Odyssey, provided for political mobilization, stating that assurances to replace it with a more functional vehicle after the election is yet to be honoured.
Beyond the political disputes, Nwuzor highlighted her current personal struggles, including serious health challenges and homelessness, describing the continued spread of falsehoods as “deeply inhumane” and detrimental to her emotional wellbeing.
She called on the individuals involved to cease all forms of defamation and embrace truth, empathy, and accountability, stressing that leadership must retain its human face. She also appealed to Nigerians to uphold justice and integrity in the nation’s political culture.
The statement has begun to generate reactions within political circles in Amuwo Odofin, with observers calling for transparency among stakeholders.
