Queen Naomi Demands Retraction and N50M from Blogger for Misleading Video Post

Naomi Silekunola Ogunwusi, the estranged wife of the Ooni of Ife, has demanded a public apology, retraction, and N50 million in damages from Olufunke Ayokunle, a content creator and gospel musician. The demand comes after Ayokunle posted a 2022 video of Naomi dancing, falsely presenting it as recent, following the deadly stampede incident in Ibadan, Oyo State, which claimed the lives of 35 children.

According to Naomi’s legal team, the reposted video generated negative public backlash, misleading public figures like Joe Igbokwe and Reuben Abati into believing she was unsympathetic to the victims’ families. The team claims Ayokunle was aware of the video’s original date but still posted it, causing unwarranted criticism and emotional distress.

The lawyers have demanded:

Immediate Retraction: Removal of the video within 24 hours
Public Disclaimer: A public statement setting the record straight on the video’s actual recording date
Letter of Apology: A public apology letter to Naomi within 24 hours

Cease and Desist: No further posting of Naomi’s videos or pictures on social media platforms or blogs
Damages: Payment of N50 million within seven days.

Failure to comply may result in legal action, including court proceedings, punitive damages, and prosecution for cyberstalking and cyberbullying.
