Nigerian Medical Doctor Kills EFCC Officer in Self-Defense, Raises Questions About EFCC’s Tactics
A medical doctor in Anambra State has been at the center of a controversy after killing an EFCC officer in self-defense. The doctor, who has no ties to illegal activities, claimed he thought the EFCC operatives were kidnappers when they broke into his apartment at midnight
The incident has raised concerns about the EFCC’s tactics, particularly their failure to notify local police before conducting the raid. According to reports, the EFCC operatives from the Enugu zonal office entered the estate without informing the local police, despite facing a shortage of manpower
The doctor, who has been identified as Chukwuka Josiah Ikechukwu Nnamdi, used a licensed pump-action gun to defend himself. He immediately dropped the weapon when he realized the intruders were EFCC operatives.
The EFCC’s actions have been criticized, with many questioning their decision to enter the apartment without proper identification or notification. The incident has also sparked a debate about the need for the EFCC to review its tactics and ensure that its operatives are properly trained to handle such situations.
In a related development, the EFCC operative who was killed in the incident, Halisu Sahabi, has been buried in Sokoto State. Sahabi was an Assistant Superintendent of the EFCC and was killed in the line of duty.
