Rivers Lawmaker, Chinyere Igwe Arrested For Vote Buying Gets Bail
Rivers Lawmaker, Chinyere Igwe who was arrested during the Presidential election for alleged vote buying has been released on bail.
Igwe who represents Port Harcourt Federal Constituency 2, at the National Assembly, was granted bail in the sum of N100,000 by a Federal high Court sitting in Port Harcourt.
Trial Judge, Justice Stephen Daylop-Pam, in his ruling on the bail application, directed that Igwe should submit his international passport to the Nigerian Immigration Service.
The matter was adjourned till the 4th of May, 2023, for commencement of trial.
Igwe was arrested by the police after it was discovered that he had in his possession $498,000 on February 24, 2023, during a stop-and-search operation by the police.
He was charged with money laundering.
