CHANGE OF BATON: AIG ALABI ASSUMES OFFICE AS AIG ZONE 2
• Says Lagos, Ogun ‘Will Have A New Lease of Life’

The new Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Nigeria Police, Zone 2 Command today Friday 17th February 2023 assumed office at the Zonal HQ, Onikan, Lagos. He is AIG Sylvester Abiodun Alabi. The professional cop will be leading the Zone which comprises Lagos and Ogun States.
Addressing newsmen briefly today, AIG Abiodun Alabi said: ‘I have worked here before for 2 years when I was CSP. So I am not a new person here. What I achieved in the last 1 year as Lagos CP, we didn’t have any major crisis though we had small challenges which were not insurmountable.’
‘I am going to replicate the same here. Lagos State and Ogun state under my command will have a new lease of life.
On the skirmish occasioned in some parts of Lagos today, he told National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP, ‘I don’t see it as special. Occasionally we have to experience such situation where people want to ventilate their anger as far as we are able to manage it very well which we are doing. We will sustain and strengthen it so that we can have a better security.’
‘We have deployed effectively to all financial institutions not only banks to ensure that hoodlums don’t take advantage of what is going on to attack banks. It is part of our statutory duty’, he concluded.
AIG Alabi was posted and redeployed to head Zone 2 command after the promotion and redeployment of the immediate past AIG Zone 2, DIG Bode Adeyinka Adeleke now, Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG Operations, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Present at the taking-over ceremony was the Board Member of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, and senior management team of Zone 2 Command.

Living in Lagos at the time, community safety was my biggest concern. Seeing a new leader take office, I truly felt a sense of anticipation that “things would get better.” Even though life goes on, that feeling is still unforgettable. When I saw this news, it was a breath of fresh air. A new face and a new promise always bring hope. I’m sure the residents of Lagos and Ogun were silently cheering him on at the time. When you need to reduce stress, you can play drive mad.
I’m always a bit cautious whenever I see news about “a new leader promising to bring change.” After all, security is a long-term and complex issue. I hope his promises at the time were truly put into action and brought some tangible results. Finally, recommend a stress-relieving drift boss game.
The work of law enforcement is truly not easy. When I saw the news of his appointment, I knew he would face great challenges. Regardless of the outcome, a big shout-out to everyone who works hard to improve the security of our communities. Now, let me introduce a really fun time-killing game called Block Breaker.
I remember when this news came out, a lot of people were full of expectations. Looking back now, the security situation in Lagos and Ogun did go through some changes during AIG Alabi’s tenure.
