NCC Convenes 2nd Stakeholder Forum Today On Competition In Voice, Data Market

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) will today, Wednesday, October 28, 2026, convene its 2nd Stakeholder Engagement Forum on the Study of the Level of Competition in the Nigerian Telecommunications Industry.

The forum, which will hold at the Lagos Continental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, from 10:00 a.m., will bring together about 150 stakeholders, including licensed telecommunications operators and other relevant industry players.

According to the Digital Press Kit made available to Streetwise Media, the forum will hold in-person with virtual participation and will focus specifically on the voice and data market segment of the Nigerian telecom industry.

The forum is the second in the series of engagements on the competition study. The first forum was held on January 13, 2026, at Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, where the rationale, objectives, scope and approach of the study were introduced and stakeholders aligned on roles and responsibilities.

Since January, the Commission said it issued Requests for Information and questionnaires to operators with a two-week deadline, followed by one-on-one engagements, both virtual and physical, and validation exercises.

Today’s forum is to present the interim findings of the study for feedback and further validation before the findings are finalised.

The Commission listed five objectives for the forum to include: Presenting the interim findings of the Voice and Data Competition Study; Validating the interim findings with operators and other relevant stakeholders; Obtaining industry perspectives to strengthen the final analysis; Refining the study’s conclusions using stakeholder feedback; and Closing data gaps through a final opportunity for operators to submit outstanding data.

The programme for the day will commence with arrival and registration at 10:00 a.m., opening remarks at 11:00 a.m., followed by a recap of the study’s objectives and progress, presentation of interim findings, and an extensive Q&A session on findings and industry perspectives. The event will close with remarks on outstanding data submissions and next steps.

The study is being presented by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), with Akolawole Odunlami, Director, Strategy&, Dr. Adesola Borokinni, Lead Economist, and Olumuyiwa Fatoba, Senior Economist, as lead presenters.

The NCC emphasized that the findings to be presented are interim and should not be reported as the final conclusions of the study, noting that media coverage should focus on the Commission’s commitment to stakeholder engagement, the importance of industry participation, and the role of stakeholder feedback in strengthening the final report.

Media representatives are invited to cover only the opening ceremony. Media enquiries can be directed to Ujuwan Ichoku at uichoku@ncc.gov.ng.

The event hashtag is #NCCCompetitionStudy.

This is a developing story. Streetwise Media will bring you updates from the opening ceremony.
