POLITICAL EARTHQUAKE IN AMUWO ODOFIN: ADC EXPLODES AS LAWMAKER HON. GEORGE ADEGEYE EXPELLED OVER ALLEGED ANTI-PARTY ACTIVITIES

POLITICAL EARTHQUAKE IN AMUWO ODOFIN: ADC EXPLODES AS LAWMAKER HON. GEORGE ADEGEYE EXPELLED OVER ALLEGED ANTI-PARTY ACTIVITIES

A major political crisis has erupted within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area following the dramatic expulsion of a sitting federal lawmaker, George Olawande, over allegations of anti-party conduct and internal destabilization.

The decision was reached during an Emergency General Meeting of ADC members in Ward B, Festac Town, where party leaders and stakeholders unanimously endorsed his expulsion through a voice vote. The meeting, presided over by Ward Chairman Hon. Ola Olajide and Ward Secretary Hon. Faith Kelechi Oluoma, cited multiple infractions against party rules and constitutional provisions.

According to the official statement addressed to the LGA Chairman, Hon. Clifford Agugoesi, the embattled lawmaker was accused of failing to formally integrate into the party structure, despite submitting a membership form in March 2026. The party further alleged that his actions have consistently undermined the recognized leadership at both ward and LGA levels, fostering indiscipline and insubordination within the ranks.

In a particularly damning claim, the ADC accused Olawande of organizing a parallel political event on April 4 without involving party leadership, reportedly attended largely by sympathizers of the All Progressives Congress (APC), raising serious concerns about divided loyalties.

The statement also accused the lawmaker of manipulating the Lagos State Harmonization process by unilaterally producing a controversial list, which legitimate ADC representatives have since disowned. Additionally, party members alleged a covert agenda by Adegeye to dismantle and replace duly constituted leadership structures within the party.

Citing Article 22 of the ADC Constitution, which addresses anti-party activities, the Ward B leadership concluded that Adegeye’s conduct constituted a gross violation warranting immediate expulsion.

This development signals deepening cracks within the ADC in Amuwo Odofin and may have far-reaching implications for the political landscape of the constituency ahead of future elections.

Political observers are now watching closely as the situation unfolds, with potential ripple effects across party lines and electoral dynamics in Lagos State.
