Jubilation as Zone 4 of Ward C in Ojodu LCDA became the winner of the OMO-ILU CUP Six-Aside Inter-Zone Football Competition.

The final of the football competition that unites the residents of Ward C at Oke-Ira in Ojodu LCDA was played today, 28-12-2025, and Zone 4 defeated Zone 3 with a lone goal, which made Zone 4 the winner of the football competitio
The six-a-side Inter-Zone football competition final that took place at Oke-Ira Community Open Ground openly declared through customized jersey the readiness for ASIWAJU AGAIN 2027 and JAF till 2031.

The OMO-ILU Football Competition was played among the six zones in Ward C. Eight teams participated in this football competition: six teams from the zones in Ward C and two others from two indigenous companies in the Ward.

The two teams that got to the final out of the eight teams that started the OMO-ILU Cup Six-A-Side Inter-Zone Football Competition were the ZONE 4 and ZONE 3 teams. At the end of the final match, ZONE 4 won with 1 goal to nothing, and they were crowned as the champion of the competition. The organizer at the ended of the match received a cash support of 250,000 from the Executive of Ojodu LCDA, Hon. Segun Odunmbaku to further encourage the winners.

The best performing players also received medals for best performance in the competition… Best Player of the Tournament Daniel. Damilare was given Best Keeper of the Tournament, while Saheed was given Highest Goal Scorer of the Tournament.

The Executive Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Hon. Segun Odunmbaku, sent his speech through his representative, Hon. Olaide John Bello (OJB) former SLG Ojodu LCDA. He said “I commend the Councillor representing Ward C Oke-Ira Central, Hon. Lanre FATUYI (OMO-ILU) for organizing this football competition in his ward, which promotes unity, discipline, and youth development in our community.

Sports remain a vital tool for positive engagement and talent discovery. I wish all participating teams a successful, peaceful, and injury-free competition.

I am pleased to support this initiative with a cash prize of ₦250,000 for the winners of the competition.

The leader of the Legislative House of Ojodu LCDA, Hon. Opeyemi Apatira, also commended Hon. Lanre Fatuyi (OMO-ILU) for organizing the football competition in his ward. In his words, he said, “A lot of talents will be discovered, and it’s also a way of empowering the youths in our community. “


Ex-Super Eagle player Ahmed Mohamed, who has played abroad for so many years and was among the special guests at the just-concluded OMO-ILU CUP Six-Aside Inter-Zone Football Competition, said, “This football competition will help in discovering young talents and also bring unity to this community. Many talents are out there on the street, and this is one of the channels to discover them. I want to thank Hon. Lanre Fatuyi (OMO-ILU) for taking the time to organize this football competition, and I pray that Almighty Allah will continue to bless him, guide him, and perfect his ways. “

In his words, he said, “One of the ways we can always unite and engage our youth is through sporting activities. I thank God for using him in taking this decision to play an Inter-Zone football competition match in Ward C, Ojodu LCDA.

I followed all the competition from the beginning, and today the final match will be played between ZONE 3 and ZONE 4.

One thing that he has done that really amazes me is creating strong awareness for PVC registration, he said every player must have PVC so if you don’t have PVC, this competition is not for you. No PVC No Participation!

By extension, he is trying to encourage the youth to go and register so that they can have a voting right especially in the coming election of 2027.

Today’s football match is a final that is also promoting the 2027 elections. It is a final to appreciate our amiable representative of Ikeja Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, it is also a final to promote the good works of the Executive Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Hon. David Olusegun Odumbaku, and also the final football match to promote my Councillor, Hon. Lanre FATUYI (OMO-ILU).”

Hon. Lanre Fatuyi (OMO-ILU) Councilor representing Ward C Ojodu LCDA, who is the organizer of the football competition, thanked all the team members who participated in the football competition, those who took their time to watch the game, and all the people of Oke-Ira Community, particularly his leaders that supported him in making this dream a reality. He specifically thanked his benefactor, mentor and leader Rt. Hon. James Abiodun Faleke MHR for the opportunity given to me to serve. I thank my amiable Executive Chairman of Ojodu LCDA Hon. Segun Odunmbaku for strong support; and all APC leaders.
